Its been our pleasure to serve our guests since 1984, building on the exceptional friendliness and old-fashioned charm of the Culver family.
Our founders, Craig Culver, his wife Lea, and Craig's parents, George and Ruth, set a new standard for quality and freshness in quick-service dining. After years of fond memories driving to the Milwaukee-area to enjoy frozen custard, their dream came true on July 18, 1984, when they re-opened a former root beer stand and christened it "Culver's Frozen Custard and ButterBurgers®".
They selected only the freshest ingredients, prepared each meal exactly to a guest's order and delivered it to their table with a great big smile. The concept quickly caught on and today we have more than 400 Culver's restaurants operated by independent franchise owners.
We are a nationally expanding franchise system. Culver Franchising System, Inc. (CfSi) franchises restaurants offering ButterBurgers®, salads, dinners, and frozen custard desserts.
At the end of 2009, 413 Culver's restaurants were open in 17 states. We are franchise-driven, thus when we have an area open for development, we rely on the strength of our franchise community to grow our brand. We’ve done it through sound management practices, the efforts of dedicated franchisees and ongoing support to help our franchisees build lasting ties in their communities. It’s this dedication to our guests that continues to earn Culver’s national and local awards as leaders in the industry and in our communities.
