The Turtle Sundae’s Sweet Story
While the Turtle Sundae gets its sweet and salty taste from its roasted Southern pecans, hot fudge and savory caramel, its name has a history that’s just as rich.
Back in the early 1900s, chocolate-dipped caramel-covered pecans first appeared in candy stores throughout the country. Resembling the shape of a turtle, these treats quickly took on the name “turtle candies,” drawing folks into small-town confectionaries throughout the Midwest. A taste too good to let go, we recreate that signature combination with creamy Fresh Frozen Custard for an even tastier take on this old-time favorite.
In the mood for something a little sweeter? Try its sister sundae, the Caramel Cashew Sundae, featuring buttery caramel and whole roasted cashews atop vanilla Fresh Frozen Custard, peaked with a sweet maraschino cherry.
With so many delicious ways to enjoy Fresh Frozen Custard (such as our famous Flavor of the Day), picking just one treat can be tricky. Check out the video below to help get you started.
