In 2014, 14-year-old Daishon B. was named Madison Magazine’s Person of the Year as part of a story about growing up in low-income schools and neighborhoods in Madison.
Since appearing on the cover of Madison Magazine, we were excited to learn that Daishon has graduated from high school and has started working at the Culver’s of Madison, Wisconsin – Todd Dr. To mark his one-year anniversary of being part of the True Blue Crew, we caught up with him to learn about his experience at Culver’s, what he has learned and what he has in store for the future.
When did you start working at Culver’s?
I’ve always wanted to work at Culver’s since I was 15, and I told myself that I could do that and could live up to that expectation of having good customer service. I landed the job in September 2017 and ever since then I have been loving the people I work with and how we treat our guests. Our guests deserve the best!
What have you learned from working at Culver’s?
One of the most important things I’ve learned is communication, not only between coworkers but between guests too. I’ll admit I was shy at first to talk to guests but being at Culver’s I’ve been able to talk to them and care for them.
What do you like to do when you are not working?
I love to draw, make comedy videos, and spend time with my dad and my family.
Any plans for the next year or two?
A big plan is that I’m trying to get a new car. I also want to work my way up to a crew leader, even possibly a manager because I really do enjoy what I do at Culver’s. I really love it a lot.
What is your favorite menu item? Favorite Flavor of the Day?
That’s a hard one because I love everything we have. If I had to choose, though, it would either be the Beef Pot Roast or Chopped Steak Dinner. For Flavor of the Day, it would either be the new Blackberry Cobbler or Brownie Batter Overload.
