When Emily Bowe, co-owner of the Culver’s of Onalaska, WI – Hwy 16, wrote her restaurant’s first donation check to the Bangor FFA, she had no idea what to expect. After including a note that read “We raised these funds to support your chapter. Hope this helps,” she sealed the envelope and sent it through mail.
It wasn’t until about a year later that she learned just how special that donation was to the chapter.
The restaurant’s gift couldn’t have come at a better time. It was the FFA adviser’s first year at the school and the adviser was looking for resources to rebuild the struggling agricultural program. The much-needed funds were used for hosting events that got the district’s elementary and middle school students excited about FFA again. The chapter was even able to sponsor a member’s trip to the National FFA Convention & Expo.
Today the restaurant continues its great relationship with the chapter and is excited to see its membership grow.
When asked why it’s important for restaurants to support the FFA, Emily shared her belief that “supporting these students and helping them grow will help them become excellent citizens.”
